Let’s have a look at a few of the advantages and disadvantages of natural cat litters and Tidy Litter.

Beginning with Tidy Litter:

  • It’s convenient and easy to purchase
  • It’s not especially light to carry, so you must be careful you don’t hurt your back
  • It’s not a planet-friendly, green product, nor is it biodegradable
  • It can enlarge to 15 times its original size, meaning it’s harder to dispose of
  • Over time, it accumulates into billions of pounds of non-degradable waste
  • It will track throughout your home, particularly as it isn’t silica dust-free
  • There is nothing in this product to control the urine odors
  • It does not have a soft texture, so it will be harder on your kitten’s feet
  • It’s only really suited to single cat households
  • It contains toxic ingredients, so you must be careful that your cat (or any other pet) doesn’t ingest it
  • It doesn’t last very long, so you will need to top up supplies frequently

Natural cat litters, on the other hand, are much different:

  • They’re convenient and easy to buy
  • They don’t weigh very much, which places less strain on your back when you have to carry it
  • They’re both green and biodegradable
  • They don’t enlarge to up to 15 times their original size, which means it’s much easier to dispose of it
  • They consequently don’t accumulate into billions of pounds of non-degradable waste, choking the landfill sites
  • They are silica dust-free and no or low tracking as well
  • They have outstanding urine control properties
  • They have a soft texture, making them easy on your cat’s or kitten’s feet
  • They are very effective for multiple cat households
  • They are non-toxic, even if consumed
  • They will last longer, necessitating fewer trips to the stores

We recently looked at several brands of natural cat litter. It is really fantastic that there are so many choices available now. Previously, we were only able to buy clay-based cat litter from the grocery stores. Now there are several brands of green cat litter that are totally biodegradable. That means eco-friendly – just what we like.

Here are the new green cat litters to look out for:

  • Feline Pine Cat Litter:

  • Swheat Scoop Cat Litter:
    • Swheat Scoop litter is made from naturally processed, secondary (non-food grade) wheat grown in the heart of the Great Plains states

    • Small, soft pellets

Overall, these are terrific alternative safe organic cat litters that work well for cats of all ages and sizes, making cat behavior training less of a challenge. These cat litters are very planet-friendly and non-toxic. You’ve heard the horror stories of cats ingesting toxic chemicals in their cat litter and getting sick or even dying from that stuff. Now, you have some terrific choices that are great for the environment and won’t make your cats sick.

Please give these cat litters a try because the traditional clay litters cannot be reabsorbed into the ground and just pile up into billions and billions of pounds of waste. Strictly speaking, clay-based litters never biodegrade because they cannot be absorbed or broken down by the organic environment. Now is the time for natural cat litters. 100,000 truck loads of cat litter gets dumped in our land fills, do your part to stop this, go green and use only eco-friendly cat litter.
